NDFA101 is a foundational and introductory course designed for everyone. Whether you are a partner, friend, parent, teacher, manager, or an allied healthcare provider, this training will give you the practical, real-world skills to confidently and effectively support the neurodivergent people in your life.

This course provides essential theory and skills-based education from experienced trainers who bring a unique blend of clinical and lived expertise.

NDFA101 covers:
  • Introduction to Neurodiversity
  • The Neurodivergent Escalation Zones
  • Practical skills for supporting Neurodivergent people facing overload, meltdown and shutdown
  • Practical skills for managing Neurodivergent crisis situations
  • Intercultural communication with Neurodivergent people

In addition, NDFA101:
  • Provides practical sensory and other strategies to support and de-escalate neurodivergent people
  • Is non-pathologising and strengths-based
  • Employs an innovative first aid course model to deliver concise skills-based content with essential theory.


This course draws on deep lived and clinical experience and combines this with insights from Narrative and Ecological Approaches as well as thought leaders in the field of Neurodiversity to bring you practical skills and perspectives to support the neurodivergent people in your life.

Douglas Crowther

Doug Crowther is a neurodivergent trainer, educator, and therapist dedicated to equipping individuals and communities with practical, neurodiversity-affirming support skills. Drawing on his lived experience and clinical expertise as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, he reframes his extensive background in trauma and mental health into a compassionate, skills-based approach. His unique blend of a Master of Social Work, an MBA in Strategy, and training in Narrative Therapy allows him to deliver training that is both deeply empathetic and strategically clear.
